I have followed Ryan’s career since his early days as professional trials rider. I have a very well worn and scratched DVD of “Mastering the Art of Trials”. In this I was first introduce to his “Manifesto Style”, a philosophy of flow that hast shaped his life, teaching growth as a human. This has always resonated with me. In those early days of MTB it was refreshing to see someone understand that mountain bike was far more than loud music and sick edits. It was a lifestyle. A way of connecting with your environment in the simplest way possible, without a bunch of extra “hops” and wasted movement.
This sums up our friendship as well. To be honest, we have actually spent very little time together, but each meeting is heartful, connected and real. Each time, I am reminded of what Mountain Biking can be when you are curious and open your heart to the possibilities that human being, trail and machine can create together.

He asked if we could build him a bike with the follow spec:
I’m looking for my one bike to rule them all - gravel, bike packing, the very occasional road ride, bouncing around town, you name it! I live in Squamish, so our gravel is a bit rough but many routes are available. I’m also a fan of multi-day bike packing trips with my partner, either on the islands or the interior.
Im primarily a mountain biker but imagine I’ll be transitioning to more and more gravel as I get older and kids become part of the picture. I already have an XC main bike and an enduro rig so that’s all taken care of. I’m comfortable on any type of technical trail and can ride all the named trails in Squamish and whistler comfortably, and many of the unnamed ones! I regularly race in our local enduro series, and may start racing more gravel/multiday stuff in the future (BC bike race is definitely a goal, and maybe the buckshot!)
When we ride bicycles through the world, our connections are everywhere. Transferring ideas and energy in ways we cannot even imagine. Like mycelium bring seemingly seperate beings together to create one cohesive wholeness. The tendrils of our adventurous spirit quietly changes the world and knows no boundaries. Go find your edges and maybe you will discover there are none.

Val and her Husband Alex have been long time naked customers. They have travelled the world on there naked bicycles for two decades. I have had the pleasure of riding with both of them and even remember Val outrunning a charging bull in the Colima back roads of Mexico. This was actually built a couple years ago but i can’t think of a better example of a client and friend who better personifies the ATB ethos. this bike is workhorse. I can’t wait to see this thing loaded up in some crazy remote part of the planet!
